The Question ("we," "our," or "us") operates The Question mobile application. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

What We Collect

Email Address (optional)

If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter during onboarding, we collect your email address. This is entirely optional and does not affect your ability to use the app.

Daily Answers

Your answers to "What will make today matter?" are stored locally on your device. We never see them. We never store them on a server. They belong to you.

Subscription Data

If you subscribe to The Question Premium, Apple handles all payment processing through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information.

How We Use Your Data

Email Address

Your email is sent to Beehiiv, our newsletter platform, so we can send you occasional updates about The Question. We will never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Everything Else

There is no "everything else." We do not use analytics SDKs. We do not track your behavior. We do not build profiles. We do not serve ads.

Data Storage

All app data (your answers, streaks, settings) is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is not synced to any server. If you delete the app, this data is permanently deleted.

Third-Party Services

Apple (StoreKit 2): Handles subscription purchases and management. Apple's privacy policy applies to all App Store transactions. Apple Privacy Policy

Your Choices

Email: You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. You can also request deletion of your email by contacting us.

App Data: You control your data. Delete answers from your history. Delete the app to remove all data. We have no server-side data to delete because we never had it.

Subscription: Manage or cancel your subscription anytime through Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your iPhone.

Children's Privacy

The Question is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The optional email collection field is intended for adult users.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we will post the revised version here with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the app or newsletter.
